What is the difference between Recreational Ballet Classes and Ballet Academy?

Our recreational program is designed for dancers seeking a fun, beginner-friendly ballet experience, while Ballet Academy provides more focused and accelerated training for dancers seeking additional commitment and performance opportunities.

How does a dancer join Ballet Academy?

Placement in Ballet Academy is by audition or teacher evaluation only.

What performances do recreational dancers participate in?

Recreational dancers have the opportunity to perform in our annual Spring production in an age-appropriate and supportive environment designed to help dancers build confidence and stage experience. They can also choose to audition for The Nutcracker at the beginning of the school year.

Does my child need previous dance experience?

Not at all! Many of our dancers are trying ballet for the very first time. Our beginner classes are designed to help dancers feel welcome, comfortable, and excited to learn.

What if my child feels nervous or shy?

That’s completely normal! Trying something new can feel overwhelming at first. Our teachers are experienced in helping dancers feel comfortable, included, and successful at their own pace.

How does tuition work?

Tuition is charged monthly throughout the school year. Tuition rates are based on the length and number of classes a dancer attends each week. for the very first time. Our beginner classes are designed to help dancers feel welcome, comfortable, and excited to learn.

What happens if my dancer misses class?

We understand that absences happen! Please notify the studio if your dancer will be absent. Make-up class availability is not guaranteed, and may vary depending on scheduling and class level.

Can boys take ballet classes?

Absolutely! We welcome dancers of all genders at West Point Ballet.

How do I know which class is right for my child?

Most recreational classes are grouped by age and experience level. We are always happy to help recommend the best fit for your dancer. Ballet Academy classes require an audition or teacher evaluation.

What should my dancer wear to class?

Comfortable clothes your dancer can move in are a great place to start for a trial class. Ballet attire is welcome, but not required for first-time dancers. After enrollment, we will help guide you through our dress code requirements.

What happens after a trial class?

Our teachers will do their best to briefly connect with you after class and share how your dancer did. Our administrative team will then follow up with next steps and help answer any questions about registration.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes. An annual registration fee helps support studio operations, scheduling, administrative costs, and student resources throughout the season.

How do withdrawals work?

We ask families to provide written notice before withdrawing from classes. Please see our full studio policies page for additional details regarding tuition and withdrawal timelines. There is an early withdrawal fee of $50.

What if we are completely new to ballet?

That’s okay! Many of our families are new to ballet, and we are always happy to help guide you through everything from class placement to dress code questions. We want every family to feel welcomed and supported.

Can my child try a class before registering?

Yes! We offer free trial classes so families can experience our studio, meet our teachers, and see if ballet is a good fit before enrolling.

Can parents watch class?

Families are welcome to briefly observe through our studio windows. We kindly ask parents to help us maintain a focused classroom environment by minimizing distractions during class.

Are performances required?

Yes. Ballet is a performing art form.

Are costumes and performance fees included in tuition?

Performance-related fees are separate from monthly tuition and help support costumes, theater rentals, and production expenses.

What ages do you start ballet classes?

We offer ballet classes beginning at age 3 through advanced levels.
